Introduction
Osavus Technology Ltd ("we", "our", or "us") develops Call Assistant, a macOS application that records calls, transcribes them on your own Mac, and turns what was said into notes and actions.
This policy covers Call Assistant only. Our mobile applications are covered by the separate policy at https://osavus.com/privacy-policy.html.
Call Assistant is unusual among apps in that we hold no data about you at all. Everything below explains why.
Information We Collect
None from within the app. Call Assistant has no account, no sign-in, and no telemetry. We do not collect, receive, or store your recordings, transcripts, notes, actions, prompts, settings, or API key. We have no technical means of accessing them.
Server logs from the update check. When the app checks whether a newer version exists, it requests a file from our server. As with any internet request, that request discloses to our hosting provider:
- Your IP address
- Your macOS version
- The version of Call Assistant you are running
These appear in ordinary web server logs. We do not use them to identify or profile you, we do not combine them with any other data, and we do not share them. We operate no logging of our own and keep no copy of these requests. Any record is held by our hosting provider under its own retention policy, which we do not control and cannot access. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating and securing the update service (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). You can avoid this entirely by turning off automatic update checks in the app's settings.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Audio recordings, transcripts, summaries, actions, or decisions
- The contents of any prompt you send, or any response you receive
- Your Anthropic API key
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or postal addresses
- Location data
- Contacts, calendar, photos, media, or files from your device
- Usage analytics or behavioural tracking data
- Payment or financial information. Call Assistant is free and we take no payment of any kind.
Where Your Data Lives
- On your Mac only. Recordings are stored as plain audio files and transcripts as plain text files, in your home folder, under your own user account. They are readable and deletable without Call Assistant installed.
- Your API key is stored in the macOS Keychain, protected by macOS, not by us.
- Nothing is synchronised. There is no cloud storage, no backup service, and no cross-device sync.
Because your data never reaches us, we are not a controller or processor of it. You are. Securing the Mac these files sit on, and any backup you make of it, is your responsibility.
Third-Party Services
Call Assistant connects to the following third parties. Each is optional and each is governed by its own privacy policy, not by ours.
- Anthropic: If you enable AI features and supply your own API key, the app sends transcript text and related context to Anthropic to produce summaries, actions, fact-checks, and answers. You are Anthropic's customer directly. We are not a party to that relationship and receive no copy of what is sent or returned. Turn the AI features off and the app makes no calls to Anthropic.
- Hugging Face: Used once to download the speech-recognition model you choose. This discloses your IP address to that provider.
- Our hosting provider: Serves the update feed and this website, and produces the server logs described above.
We do not integrate with advertising networks, analytics providers, or crash reporters, and we do not sell data to anyone.
The Local Interface for Other Applications
Call Assistant can expose your call history to other applications on your Mac through a read-only local interface. It is switched off by default.
If you switch it on and connect another application, that application can read your transcripts, notes, and actions, and may transmit them onward under its own terms. What happens to your data through that route is determined by the application you connect, not by us. Enable it only for applications you trust, and review their privacy policies.
Recording and Other People
Call Assistant records both sides of a conversation. It does not join the call, does not announce itself, and does not ask other participants for consent.
If you record a conversation with other people, you are the controller of their personal data, and the obligations that follow are yours. Many jurisdictions require the consent of some or all participants, and some treat undisclosed recording as a criminal offence. Determine what the law requires of you, and obtain any consent you need, before you record.
Children's Privacy
Call Assistant is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not make it available to younger users, including with parental consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Rights (GDPR)
We are based in Estonia (European Union), so the General Data Protection Regulation applies. You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, and objection.
Because we operate no logging of our own, there is no record for us to search or erase. Any request about the hosting provider's own logs would have to be directed to it, and we will help you do that.
For the data on your own Mac, you do not need us. Delete it yourself:
- The Call Assistant folder in your Library, which holds recordings, transcripts, notes, and actions
- Any speech-recognition model you downloaded
- The Call Assistant entry in Keychain Access, which holds your API key
- The "Call Assistant Speaker" driver in the system audio plug-in folder, which requires your administrator password to remove
- The application itself
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon) at https://www.aki.ee, or with the supervisory authority in your own country of residence.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data and we have none to sell. We would disclose server log data only if required by law or in response to a valid legal request.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we will also note them in the app's release notes.
